Mean Girls in the Workplace- How to Survive and Thrive

New Book Confidence Slayers: Fragile Souls by Dr. Cassandra Smith Provides Valuable Insights into Confidence Slayer Attributes and How to Regain Workplace Confidence

What is happening in today’s workforce? More prominent than not, there are mean girls, poor leadership, confidence hits, stifling creative ideas, and the same employees being promoted, and the list goes on and on! This is quite unfortunate given most of our lives are spent in the workplace. Confidence Slayers: Fragile Souls, Dr. Smith’s newest project, is a book about surviving the confidence slayers in the workforce and dives deep into the people who serve as the catalyst for lack of self-confidence — especially when the unmotivating and assuming person is a people manager. The book explains the impact confidence slayers have on employees especially when the confidence slayers are people managers. Mishandled employee conflict, disengaged leaders, and senior leadership who are avoiding being vulnerable and making needed decisions create a breeding ground for a dysfunctional workforce. Additionally, Dr. Smith discusses confidence slayer attributes, how to recognize the characteristics and do better, and how to regain your confidence in the aftermath. Training classes and her book Confidence Slayers: Fragile Souls are underway. This is an important topic with many far-reaching effects.

“When I look at my body of work, it has been to create simple training material to connect people more and use their individuality to create great experiences for employees that will in turn help translate to customers. At the root is quality training curated in such a way that it provides what people need,” Dr. Smith said. “I find that a lot of employers are unsure about what quality training looks like and they are in a rinse-and-repeat mode expecting different results. Avoid the cognitive overload. Enough already! Let us help devise a training strategy and create a suite of quality, scalable eLearning courses.”

As a thought leader in people management, CEO, and founder of McBride & Smith Training Advisory Group with over 22 years of training and professorship in Adult Learning, Dr. Smith is well-qualified to discuss this topic. Dr. Smith is an expert in leadership, working virtually, and enhancing soft skills for people managers. She has led global training for Fortune 500 companies and taught tertiary students online. Dr. Smith has also done extensive research in these areas, and her work has been published in several academic journals. In addition to her academic work, Dr. Smith has also created the Virtual Team Global Business Model (VTGBM™), a framework on how to lead employees and work remotely successfully. Most recently, Dr. Smith launched her first app, Virtual Behaviors, an innovative employee engagement tool that helps support connecting leaders to their remote teams. With her wealth of experience and knowledge in these areas, Dr. Smith is well-positioned to help organizations and individuals navigate the challenges of today’s increasingly global and virtual workplace.

“Quality and simplified training within corporate settings are both lacking, especially rooted in adult learning practices,” Dr. Smith said. “Employers bring a tethered group of adult employees together with distinct learning styles, and adults need training cultivated for how they learn; my goal is to make this happen one company at a time. I want others to experience a team of content developers who truly know what they are doing and how to impact employee engagement and customers.
